Work Outfit in NYC

Hi, Happy Monday!

The weather is getting warmer in NYC and I find myself having problems finding the right outfit for work. I can't dress too casually as I work in a corporate environment but I don't want to dress too conservatively.  I want something that is fun, polished and still looks professional.

Here is a work appropriate outfit I put together for the summer.

I love large tote bags which are roomy enough to carry all of my essentials such as my Ipad, my laptop, and my phone, makeup bag, wallet, sunglasses, etc.

For accessories, I prefer something simple.  I usually wear either a pair of tear drop earrings paired with a bangle, or a pair of stud earrings with a simple necklace.  I almost never wore tear drop earrings and necklace at the same time.  I think it's a bit too overwhelming for work.

Neutral color pumps are so in these days.  They have the advantage of never going out of style.  They work well with nearly anything in my closet.  These beige color pumps are so versatile.  I can wear them with a cocktail dress, a navy blue shift dress for work, or jeans on the weekends.

Here is another collage I put together which is also in a neutral color scheme.

Please let me know what you think of this outfit.  It's my very first time putting  outfit collages together using Polyvore so please pardon my 'design' if it doesn't look as professional as the many talented Polyvore stylists out there (There are so many I admire.  I can spend hours browsing through their creations seriously).

Here are some work outfit suggestions that I love:

Weekend

Hi Everyone, the weather is so nice in New York.  I've spend sometime snapping some pictures of the flowers in our garden this morning.  These flowers require zero maintenance.  They come back year after year.  Look at how amazing and striking the color is.

I also got to enjoy a cup of ice lemon tea and browsing some of my favorite blogs and online magazines today.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Morning Skin Care Routine

What is your morning skin care routine?  Mine is fairly simple but it works for me. First of all, I have combination skin type which is oily around the T-zone and dry on the cheeks.  My main skin concerns are dark circles/fine lines under my eyes, uneven skin tone, and lack of hydration.  Sounds familiar?  I've tried many different skincare products over the years and yet nothing really worked for me (except for the Olay Complete) until I tried the skin care products by L'Occitane en Provence.

First, I use Immortelle Brightening Cleansing foam from L'Occitane to clean my face in the morning.  This cleansing foam contains organic immortelle floral water and you only need to use a very small amount each time.  It creates such a thick foam that one pump is enough to wash the entire face.  My face feels so fresh and clean and looks absolutely radiant and smooth.

Then I pour a small amount of the Immortelle Brightening Water in a cotton pad and gently apply it all over my face and neck.  If I am not in a rush, I sometimes saturate a cotton pad with a little more than normal amount of brightening water and cover my T-zone with it.  I then leave it on for 2 to 3 minutes.  It's like a mini facial in the morning.  This brightening water is rich in Vitamin C and it also contains Bellis Perennis extract.  My face glows after each use.

Then I tackle my eye area.  I have dark circles under my eyes.  I've tried numerous eye cream/gel in the past but nothing really works for me.  But I noticed a big difference after I used this L'Occitane Divine Eye the first time.  The fine lines and dark circles under my eyes were visibly reduced.  The price is quite reasonable considered it works wonder for me.

I've been a fan of Olay since I was a little kid.  Now, three generations in my family is using Olay Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid.  It's nothing fancy and it's affordable. It absorts right into my skin and it is not greasy at all.  All you need is a little dab and it goes a long way.

I protect my lips with Burt's Bees Beewax Lip Balm.  This lip balm is 100% natural and contains ingredients like ultra-emollient lanolin, sunflower oil, coconut oil and beewax.  It glides on smoothly and is long lasting.  I have a tube everywhere...my car, my purse, my nightstand, and my desk at work.

What Makes My Day Shine?

Welcome to Let Every Day Shine.  I am grateful that you stop by.

What makes my day shine is being able to start my day with a healthy breakfast.  I never believe in skipping breakfast.  Some people try to lose weight by skipping this most important meal of the day, but often times, that results in lower metabolism, weight gain, a reduced level of energy.

My ideal breakfast on weekdays is a bowl of multi-grain cereal with skim milk or soy milk. My all time favorite is this Silk Very Vanilla Soy Milk Natural.  It's rich, smooth and yummy.  It's also 100% lactose and dairy free.
I also love adding fruits, as such strawberries and blueberries to my breakfast.  A healthy breakfast can be just this simple, and yet, delicious.

On the weekends, my husband and I love to whip up something special together.  I've gotten so many great brunch recipes from Martha Stewart's website.

Caramelized-Apple Crepes

I am planning to try this for my family this weekend.

Happy Tuesday!
